This page explains how DebbiesCare ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and looks after personal information when you visit debbiescare.com or use our membership platform. We are the data controller for the personal data described here and we process it in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

DebbiesCare is a UK membership community that connects families with verified caregivers for live-in care and respite care, with support from a real CARE Coach. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, please contact us at hello@debbiescare.uk.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details — name, email address, password and the role you sign up as (family or caregiver).
  • Profile information — details you choose to share such as location, care needs, availability, experience and references.
  • Messages and coaching conversations — content you send through the platform to other members or to your CARE Coach.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited and similar analytics collected through cookies and server logs.
  • Payment data — handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and membership.
  • To match families with suitable caregivers and to facilitate introductions.
  • To provide CARE Coach support, guides and other membership resources.
  • To verify caregiver identities, references and qualifications.
  • To improve the website, troubleshoot issues and keep the service secure.
  • To send essential service emails and, where you have opted in, occasional updates.
  • To meet our legal, regulatory and tax obligations.

4. Legal bases

We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR: performance of a contract (to deliver the membership you sign up for), legitimate interests (to run, secure and improve the platform), consent (for optional marketing and certain cookies), and legal obligation (for example, accounting records).

5. Sharing your information

We only share personal data where necessary, including with:

  • Other members where you have chosen to make contact (for example, a family viewing a caregiver profile).
  • Trusted service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, email, analytics, payments). They act on our instructions and are bound by contract.
  • Authorities or professional advisers where we are required to do so by law or to protect our rights.

We never sell your personal data.

6. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; turning some off may affect how the site works.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it to provide the service and to meet legal or regulatory requirements. When you close your account we delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, unless we are required to keep it for longer.

8. Keeping your data safe

We use encryption in transit, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your data. No online service can be 100% secure, so please also help by choosing a strong password and keeping it private.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. You can also withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@debbiescare.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

10. Children

DebbiesCare is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes we will let members know by email or through the platform. The "last updated" date above shows the current version.
